 introduction

I'm Andy Parker, and I've spent over 15 years getting lost in the labyrinthine beauty of Venice.  Beyond the postcard views, there's a whole other city whispering secrets through its urban architecture and lagoonal environment.

I've always been captivated by how light and shadow play across the ancient stones, how every archway, every narrow 'calle', and every weathered facade creates a unique sense of geometry.  The mystery of the city when shrouded in the fogs, and of isolated individuals and their unique narrative that find themselves at one with the city.  It's this unseen Venice, the one defined by light, shadow and captivating contrasts, that I love to capture.

This collection is an accumulation of over 15 years wandering the streets and provides a deep dive into that urban tapestry, a curated look at the patterns and characters that make Venice utterly unforgettable.

For me, black and white is the ultimate storyteller when it comes to Venice. It strips away the noise and lets the core elements — shape, form, and light — take center stage.

I'm always on the hunt for those moments where the sun carves through a narrow passage, casting dramatic shadows that redefine the very structure of a building. Or those quiet corners where diffused light softens edges, creating almost abstract compositions.

It’s about finding the extraordinary in the everyday urban environment, transforming familiar scenes into something new and thought-provoking. You'll see how simple lines can create incredible depth and mood.
